Robert De Niro, born august 17, 1943 is one of the greatest
actors of all time. I, myself, put him on the top of the list of the greatest
actors of past 40 years in American cinema. Robert De Niro is a method actor
and widely regarded one of the greatest actors along with Al Pacino. He has
been known for a number of great films, he did, especially with Martin Scorsese
and Joe Pesci. Robert De Niro has been awarded 2 academy awards, golden globe
award and AFI’s life time achievement award. Following is the list of ten best

10. HEAT
Heat is a 1995 American crime film directed by Michael Mann. The film revolves around the story of an honest police officer and a professional criminal chasing each other. A real thriller, film is one of the best films of the year 1995. Film was listed as the 38th greatest film of all time by Empire magazine.
9. A BRONX TALE
Bronx Tale is a 1996 drama and the directorial debut of Robert De Niro. It’s a film about the struggle of a middle class father to get his son out of the crime world. It’s a wonderful film and holds a rating of 96% on the rotten tomatoes.
8. THE KING OF COMEDY
The King of Comedy is a 1983 black comedy film directed by Martin Scorsese. It chronicles the cult worship of the celebrities and is based upon the unusual story of a struggling stand-up comic whose unprecedented action leads him up to the stardom. It’s one of the highly entertaining films of all time. Film has been put under the category of empire magazine’s 500 greatest films of all time.
7. ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA
Once upon a time in America is a 1984 epic crime film based upon the youth crime in the early 1930s in the New York City. Directed by Sergio Leone, this film is a wonderful film of the underworld genre and went on to win two BAFTA awards along with many others internationally.
6. THE DEER HUNTER
The deer hunter is a 1978 war drama film directed by Michael
Cimino and is based upon the three steel workers of Russian American descent
and their service in Vietnam War. It’s one of the finest pictures one would
like to watch. The film was kept on the 53rd place in the AFI’s 100
best pictures list of all time.

5. MEAN STREETS
Mean streets is a 1973 film directed by Martin Scorsese based upon the youth mafia and their inter-relationships together. The film stars Harvey Keitel as the lead. It’s also one of the biggest pictures of that year and film has been preserved in the national film registry of United States of America. Robert de Niro went on to fetch the national society of film critics award for best supporting actor.
4. GOODFELLAS
Goodfellas is a 1990 crime film, directed by Martin Scorsese based upon the real incidents of Air France robbery in 1967 and the biography of Henry Hill who was one of the accused in the case. Film has been praised as one of the greatest films of all time and perhaps the best ever crime film in the American film history. It was kept in top 100 films by AFI and 2nd best underworld film by the same.
3.THE GODFATHER PART 2
The godfather part 2 is the sequel and prequel both of the godfather. It was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and won the best picture award of academy as well as 5 others. The movie is also one of the greatest works in the field of cinema and has been preserved in the American film registry. Robert De Niro played the role of younger don Vito Corleone and won the best supporting actor award of Oscars.

Taxi driver is a 1975 film set in New York City of post Vietnam War. It’s the story of an insomniac who chooses to become a taxi driver at night shift and tries to remove the filth that is all prevailed in the city in his own style and eventually comes up with a wonderfully bold act which makes him hero by night. Film is directed by Martin Scorsese and considered as one of the greatest films of all time. Film was nominated for 4 academy awards and went on to win the prestigious Palm D’Or award. Raging bull is a biographical film based on the life of legendary middleweight boxer Jake LaMotta and focuses on the issues related with personal and professional life of the boxer. Robert De Niro was awarded academy award for best actor and film also was nominated for the best picture award in the year of 1980. The film is a modern classic and perhaps the most outstanding cinematic work of martin Scorsese.
